Dame Essence Gets the Alan Carr & Lee Pert Treatment on Bottoms Up!
The Côtes de Provence rosé makes a glamorous appearance on Alan Carr and Lee Peart’s wine podcast
London, September 2026 — Dame Essence has made its latest celebrity appearance, featuring on Bottoms Up! with Alan Carr and Lee Peart, the wine podcast hosted by comedian and broadcaster Alan Carr and comedian Lee Peart.
In an episode packed with wine, gossip, drinking games and plenty of the pair's trademark chaos, Dame Essence Côtes de Provence Rosé takes centre stage early in the show, arriving in suitably theatrical fashion — complete with a deckchair, sun hat, wax-sealed letter and, naturally, a bottle of rosé.
Lee Peart introduces Dame Essence to Alan, revealing his connection with founder Gabriel and explaining that the wine comes from Gabriel's own Côtes de Provence rosé project. Gabriel is also the grandson of broadcaster Gloria Hunniford.
The presentation immediately catches Alan's attention.
The name Dame Essence becomes the subject of one of the episode's running jokes, with Alan dubbing the wine “Lady Petrol” before embracing the more sophisticated, and considerably more French, Dame Essence.
And because this is Bottoms Up!, the introduction is anything but a conventional wine tasting.
The bottle is presented reclining on a deckchair, complete with its own sun hat, as Alan and Lee unpack the elaborate presentation before pouring themselves a glass. The result is a very Dame Essence moment: French rosé, sunshine, glamour and a healthy dose of irreverence.
Dame Essence is a Côtes de Provence rosé created around the idea that rosé should be about more than simply what's in the glass. It is a lifestyle; one involving good company, sunshine, a little glamour and, ideally, nowhere particularly urgent to be.
The appearance on Bottoms Up! is particularly fitting for the brand. The podcast sees Alan Carr and Lee Peart explore the world of wine through humour, celebrity stories and a deliberately unpretentious approach to drinking, with the pair regularly putting wines and wine culture under the microscope.
Dame Essence is featured alongside a selection of wines and drinks throughout the September 23 episode, “Alan & Lee’s Most Unhinged Drinking Games Yet.” The episode also sees the pair tackle drinking games including Lady Gargle, Naked Attraction: The Wine Edition and The Secret Sommelier.
For Dame Essence founder Gabriel, seeing the bottle land in front of Alan Carr is a particularly surreal milestone.
What began as a rosé brand built around French summer, irreverence and a slightly more glamorous approach to drinking has now found itself sitting on a deckchair in front of one of Britain's best-known comedians.
And frankly, the Dame wouldn't have it any other way.
